12/11/12  New page: Questions & Answers

12/11/12  A Red Hill area community meeting is tentatively scheduled for sometime in late January.  Here is the text of the email that was sent out to known email addresses:

I would like your thoughts on having a general meeting about the Red Hill Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) in late January.  It would be a question and answer session about the CWPP document, plus George Barreras would be willing to join us with his wonderful sand table and to talk about the FireWise program.  We'd need to figure out where to meet after we know how many people might be interested in attending.
The CWPP is a document for communities to identify what is of value to them so that priorities for protection from wildfire can be established.  A CWPP is NOT about government coming onto your property or telling you what to do.  Rather, the CWPP is to get stakeholders - private ownership plus state and federal land management agency - together to plan a common-sense and effective approach to wildfire.  Given that the upcoming wildfire season could be bad, it's never too early to start planning!
I don't have a lot of email addresses for everyone in the Red Hill area that might be interested and I am trying to save on postage by using email where possible.  If you have an email address for someone that's not on the list below, maybe you could forward this email and ask that person to email me to let me know if I can add him/her to my email list.  [Notelist of names deleted for privacy purposes]

12/02/12  The follow-up mailing was sent out and since then several emailed and phone call questions have been received.  They are addressed on the main blog page.

11/01/12   A mailing was sent out via USPS describing the Red Hill CWPP and Outreach projects to property owners within the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) areas #47 and #49.  Some non-subdivision property owners were not included in that mailing; a follow-up mailing will be sent to these property owners as soon as addresses are obtained.

IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A LETTER, and you a) believe your property is within (WUI) areas #47 and/or #49 [PDF download of map file, see Map 9], and b) have not received a letter by December 1, 2012, please contact the Catron County Commission office (575) 533-6423 or email Linda Cooke to provide a USPS mailing address.  Thank you.
